MUSIC EDUCATION and PERFORMING EXPERIENCE

Qualifications: Guildhall School of Music; Diploma in Music Practise-Performing (Drum Kit) with Honours. Rock School; Drum Kit Grade 8 Merit

1971 to 1974 Trained in sound recording and editing techniques at Twickenham Film Studios.

1975 to 1977 Self taught studying rudiments of drumming, jazz, rock, blues, soul and Latin styles. Studied percussion instruments, including congas, bongos, timbales etc.

1978 Studied and performed with UK jazz saxophonist John Williams.

1985/86 Studied with Brazilian percussionists Pato & Carlos Fuentes and performed with London School of Samba     

1993/94 Attended Music Business Training courses.

As a freelance musician I have performed extensivly with many established UK professional bands and in many styles, at venues in the UK and abroad including tours of Ireland, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Denmark, Norway etc. Played at top festivals including Glastonbury Festival, Womad Festival, Notting Hill Carnival, Shambala etc, also at top London hotels and venues. Played on local and national television, radio, recording sessions, theatre shows etc


OTHER RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

50 years experience playing, teaching drums and percussion, and general music tuition.  Writing and recording own material using analog and digital recording with Macintosh and Cubase. including recording, mixing and mastering.

Working with GCSE students on composition and perforance including music technology, Sound recording- digital and audio.

Running music workshops and various schools special music projects.

Business aspects and administration of running a performing music groups including promotion, publicity, successful Arts Council grant applications etc. Organiser and director for summer festivals.   Author of published drum books and drumming online courses. Qualified First Aider at Work.  Father of two daughters & grandfather. Full driving licence.
